News is beginning to reach us of the tragic death of ex BFSFA player Darren Smith who has been killed whilst on active service in Afghanistan at the young age of 27. Sincere condolences go out to his wife, daughter, family, friends and ex team-mates. News has reached us of the untimely death of local footballer Mick Elgee who sadly lost his life last night in the Cleveley's garage collapse along with friend Daryl Hutchinson.
Many of you may not have already heard but the untimely death of the New Castle FC keeper Ben Parker (26) has been a great shock. I’ve watched him many times over the last four seasons and without doubt he was one of the top goalkeepers involved in Sunday football.
