Sportspy : Memory Lane - St Annes Traders' FC.

In the latest of our popular 'Memory Lane ' articles we take a look at St Annes Trader's FC who played in the BFSFA througout the early and mid Seventies when they had a successful spell. May 2007 sees the 40th Final of the Gledhill Cup, the BFSFA's premier knock-out competition.  In the first of a four part series we look back at previous finals.  We start with the period 1987/88 through to 1996/97.  Final tables, top scorers and Divisional Cup winners are also often included.

Sportspy : Memory Lane - 1971/72 Season

In the second of our series we go back to the final few weeks of the 1971/72 season as the campaign draws towards its conclusion.  Local team Oceans X1 reach the final of the first ever Lancashire Sunday Trophy.  Next week we concentrate on 1972/73 (Part 1) as young Alan Cocker (Current Poulton manager) scores for Preesall Colts and the new changing block at Moor Park gets vandalised for the very first time.

Thirty eight years ago the Sunday League in this area started in its present form.  Thanks to Dave Taylor, committee member and local referee of over fifty years fyldesport.com has been given unique access to his collection of press cuttings from those early seasons.  Sit your old man on the computer, make sure he has his glasses and get ready for some of those old stories he's famous for.  Coming soon 1971/72.
